Thank you, shadows of history’s past,
Whose quiet courage was steadfast.
Abraham, Robert, and Caleb bold,
Long Island’s story, in whispers told.

Jonas and Austin, with daring stride,
Messages carried, truth couldn’t hide.
Anna Strong, with her lines on the shore,
Her laundry spoke secrets of the war.

James Rivington, a printer by trade,
A spy’s role in ink and typeface laid.
Benjamin Tallmadge, with wisdom keen,
A leader unseen, in freedom’s dream.

Amos and Mary, who risked their all,
In taverns and whispers, answering the call.
For every affiliate, named or forgot,
Their service etched in freedom’s plot.

How simple folk, with humble guise,
Outwitted Britain, to their surprise.
A ring of friends, with courage to lend,
Defeated the empire, brought it to end.

No armies marched, no cannons roared,
Just quills and codes and deeds ignored.
A sophisticated network, unraveled, unspooled,
By Long Island’s patriots, who never were fooled.

May you all rest in peace, brave souls,
Who sacrificed to achieve your goals.
In quiet victory, your legacy sings—
